Bioinformatics Core

Providing access to high-throughput computational resources and enabling investigators direct access to powerful bioinformatics tools, services and training.

Housed at Columbia University’s Genome Center and working in collaboration with the State University at Buffalo’s Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics, this core facilitates the integration of bioinformatics and computational biology into biomedical research at AMDeC-affiliated institutions and efficiently extends access to crucial computational resources otherwise unavailable to large swathes of the research community.

Opened in 2001, AMDeC’s Bioinformatics core is leveraged by scientists across New York. Major Bioinformatics Core projects have, and continue to, shed light on DNA sequences affecting susceptibility to disease—including breakthroughs in cancer, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis —and predicting efficacy of drugs.
