Technology Access Program

Through AMDeC’s Technology Access Program, AMDeC-affiliated investigators gain access to cutting-edge instrumentation at substantially reduced prices.  Under the program's guidelines, AMDeC's Vendor Partners place highly demanded instruments at an AMDeC member institution for 12 months at no cost.  The instrument's host institution is selected through an RFP process that includes an independent, scientific review board (see below).

As the focus of the program is to provide access to new technologies, the host institution agrees that no less than 50% of the instrument's availability is reserved for other AMDeC member institutions.  AMDeC reviews quarterly reports to substantiate usage levels.  Furthermore, it is stipulated as part of the agreement that access is provided at reduced fees across the consortium in an effort to encourage participation.

Currently, there are two instruments placed via AMDeC's Technology Access Program:

1. Agilent Technologies 6400 Series Triple Quadruple LC/MS system at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine

2. RainDance Technologies RDT 1000 at the Tri-Institutional Research Program

For more information related to these technologies, including access information, please contact William Palumbo at williamp@amdec.org.  Access information is also available via AMDeC F.I.R.S.T.  If you are logged into AMDeC F.I.R.S.T., please click here to access the vendor partnership files.

AMDeC Facilitated RFP Process
The RFP process has three separate review parties:

1. AMDeC Administration
To ensure the instrument placement is accessible to other AMDeC members at reasonable times and at a reasonable price.
2. Vendor Key Decision Makers
To ensure that our vendor partners are satisfied that the placement will maximize the exposure to their instrument and platform.
3. Outside Scientific Review Board
To ensure that the selected project is of high scientific merit.
