Member Services

Over the past decade AMDeC has worked tirelessly to create services and opportunities that benefit our members: New York State's pre-eminent medical schools, academic health centers and research institutions.

Benefits of AMDeC membership include:

Joining a strong, progressive “medical community” in New York State founded on the sharing of ideas, intellectual power, and resources through:

AMDeC’s Collaborative Scientific Focus Groups― each scientific focus group promotes:

*Increased communication across member institutions
*Member engagement in the sharing of resources, expertise and costly technology
*New platforms for collaborative research projects
*Advanced education and training of both young and established researchers

Cost savings for scientific products and services, and access to leading-edge technologies through:

AMDeC’s Vendor Partnership Program ― AMDeC facilitates preferrred vendor pricing discount agreements on behalf of its members. Member institution benefits include:

*Consortium-wide discounts on products and service contracts
*Pre-commercial access to cutting-edge instrumentation
*Detailed educational seminars on new technology
*Closer working relationship between investigators and the commercial sector

Subsequent to cost savings of more than $700k to our members in 2008-2009 alone, AMDeC has expanded this effort and is actively forging new agreements with several companies that represent a diverse mix of products, services and technologies.

Access to core scientific resources and innovative technology platforms across institutions that can maximize resource and cost efficiencies through:

AMDeC’s Core Facility Resource Inventory– An inventory of resources available in Core Facilities across the consortium has been compiled via a “Core Facility and Purchasing Survey” created by AMDeC. The inventory includes services provided, instrumentation availability, facility contact information. The survey has been completed by over 70 Core Facilities representing 13 member institutions, and it serves to both facilitate the sharing of resources among institutions and guide AMDeC’s vendor partnership program.

Entrée to a gateway for communication and interaction across consortium members and the broader public and private community at-large through:

AMDeC’s Website – A Portal for Information and Communication― AMDeC’s Website serves as a portal that provides members with easy access to the ‘resource inventory’ as well as negotiated vendor discount pricing information in a secure, password-protected environment.  It provides simple navigation and search capabilities, allows each institution to update its information as needed and offers a mechanism for members to communicate with each other. The Web site also serves as a hub of news and information for the biotech sector and as a venue through which the public can learn about AMDeC’s myriad of innovative projects.
